What Is Omarchy and Who Is It For?

Traditional desktops encourage finding windows and menus with a pointer. Omarchy instead emphasizes:

Omarchy best suits people willing to learn shortcuts, read error output, and own their update and backup routine. Developers, writers, terminal-heavy users, and anyone who wants to spend less time arranging windows often see the benefit quickly.
If you depend on a specific Windows driver, corporate VPN, professional media plug-in, anti-cheat game, or vendor utility, test it on spare or recoverable hardware first. A Linux download alone does not prove that file formats, plug-ins, licensing, and acceleration will work in your real workflow.
It is not maintenance-free
Arch Linux moves quickly. Omarchy provides a more complete starting point, but cannot remove hardware differences, upstream changes, or local configuration conflicts. A sustainable setup needs:
- an independent backup of important data;
- time to read update prompts and recover if needed;
- system-provided configuration paths before custom overrides;
- version, timestamp, and complete error details when something fails.
