Omarchy ISO and USB Installation Steps
Get the Omarchy ISO from the official source, create USB boot media safely, boot through UEFI, and complete a whole-disk install.
This page is for a device whose target disk may be completely erased. To preserve Windows, use the dual-boot guide instead.
1. Download and verify
Follow the current download path from the official Omarchy site and record the release and download date. If the project supplies checksums or signatures, follow its current verification instructions. A failed verification means download again, not proceed.
2. Choose the USB drive
Use a USB drive with no important data. The imaging tool will overwrite its partition table. Confirm its name and capacity in the file manager and disconnect unrelated removable drives to reduce the chance of selecting the wrong target.
3. Write the image
Windows and macOS both have trusted graphical imaging tools with explicit device confirmation. Whatever tool you use, verify that:
- the input is the Omarchy image you just checked;
- the output is the disposable USB drive;
- you wait for completion before ejecting it safely;
- you image the ISO rather than copying it as an ordinary file.
4. Boot through UEFI
Shut down, open the one-time boot menu, and choose the USB entry marked UEFI. Vendor keys differ, so consult the device manual. Do not casually change SATA modes, clear the TPM, or reset security hardware just to make a USB entry appear.
5. Whole-disk installation
Final target-disk check
A whole-disk install removes the operating system, recovery partitions, and personal files from the target. Cross-check brand, capacity, and physical location. Exit if any one is uncertain.
Follow the current installer for user, timezone, keyboard, and disk choices. Do not mirror button positions from an old video: installers and defaults change.
6. First reboot
After the installer explicitly finishes, shut down or reboot and remove the USB when instructed. If the installer appears again, choose the internal disk in UEFI rather than reinstalling. In the desktop, test networking, audio, displays, input devices, suspend, and reboot.
For a black screen or missing network, preserve the error and hardware details and follow the troubleshooting order.
